My eyes constantly get red. The white part or the sclera is red. Both eyes. I read that “injected conjunctiva” can be seen in certain lymphomas....a few rare ones like T-cell type not CLL.
I have been diagnosed CLL/SLL 11q ATM unmutated. I am 62 male untreated and in the “watch and worry” phase with an ALC monoclonal of 12,400. And some nodes enlarged.
They are not itchy at all or painful . My lids are not swollen .
Is this a virus or autoimmune or something else?

Hi LovecuresCLL. This is a difficult question, and the best advice is always to refer any physical changes you notice to your consultant as soon as possible. I think it is unlikely that your symptoms are conjunctivitis as this is usually accompanied by swelling and irritation of the eyes, but please have it checked out. Eyes are very precious. The redness could be from several other causes and an early referral to an eye specialist may be advisable, just for peace of mind.
Thank you! It is still there . Diffuse redness bilateral. No pain. Eyes look a little watery . No photophobia. It’s the weekend . I will schedule with an eye doctor on Monday. I have hypertension .

You could have blepharitis or conjunctivitis and both these are serious if not dealt with. As another respondent has said it is important to get to the ophthalmologist soonest. I have to heat and clean my eyelids every night because I have blepharitis and this is important because bacteria, if that’s what it is, left unchecked, can damage your cornea.

I don’t know if there is a relationship between CLL and blepharitis but I do know I have blepharitis and that there is bacteria on my eyelids that needs to be cleansed every night and sometimes in the morning. I also know that left unchecked it can get worse and affect your cornea and your sight. As those with CLL have to be careful of infections generally I take no chances and my opthamologist is very pleased with how my eyes have responded to the cleansing regimen. I will admit I get tired of having to be so vigilant but there is no choice. If I wear makeup it will be worse the next day and mascara is only for weddings cuz my vision is blurry the next day cleansing or not.
