WM hyper viscosity issue

Has anyone had a “plasma pherisis” proceedure done? Is it a painful or ok To deal with.

I don’t know. Years ago I did apheresis to donate platelets to a lady with leukemia. It wasn’t painful. It just took awhile.

Hiya, it’s barely more painful than a blood test but you will be attached to the machine for several hours whilst it removes your plasma and the excessive amounts of IgM protein.

Thank you. I have been told by people that they use large bore needles and put them in odd places for removal and reentry of blood

Yes they do use large needles but if you’ve got good venous access in your arms they will use those. You might feel the needle ‘drag’ on your skin a bit as it goes in but it shouldn’t hurt any more than usual. They are the same as used for blood donation.
