I recently read an article (link below) of a 75 year old CLL patient who went into remission and is now cancer free after a trial at UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA SCHOOL OF MEDICINE.
Does anybody know any further information about the trail and/or how long until it could be potentially rolled out. Are similar trials being undertaken in the U.K. I understand it at trial stage but it gives us a bit of hope.
This is just about new developments in CAR-T therapy, which is still quite experimental and very expensive. Dr Brian Koffman (who set up the CLL Society), has recently been successfully treated with CAR-T, while another person very active in the CLL community, Lisa Minkove, who was being treated at the same time, same clinic, sadly died.
I think we should all start looking towards the cause just as much as the cure, unfortunately cll has some similarities with some of us but can also be different for us all and treating it requires different therapies and techniques which fortunately science has realised and is successfully creating less harmful and more effective treatments although it seems getting them for some is becoming difficult due to big businesses putting profits before lives.
You may go into a remission for a short time once treated but ultimately it will return if the same causes are there. Today people suffer with stress more due to the way of the world which itself is a weakness on the immune system and potential reason, secondly people are always in a rush and don’t eat and drink the correct foods and much of what we do eat is processed and harmful including fast foods again causing detrimental damage to our immune systems, lastly our sleep patterns sometimes caused by the latter are a mess once again becoming harmful to our bodies.
