And they're off ........................................

The Flyer was up at 4:40 the morning and managed to wake me up too!! He met up with all of the other cyclists at 6am. The Flyer is a marshall for the slow group which he prefer to call the social group. When everyone was ready to start off the social group decided to go to Tesco for a comfort break. The Great British weather gave them a send off starting with light rain which quickly turned into a downpour! It was a day of 2 halves with cold rain and wind in the morning followed by warm sunshine later in the day. The Dunkirk spirit has returned for the Flyer and he battled on with his Team. They even overtook the 2nd group a couple of times. The Flyer supported a couple of struggling cyclists and the all completed the 116.5 miles to just outside Portsmouth by 18:45 on the first day. He is now off to freshen up and refuel. It will be another early start tomorrow to catch the ferry to France with more cycling along the way.

Thanks for the update Sarah. Well done as usual Jules, what a good idea to take a comfort break at Tesco.

Hope the journey goes well and you get a good view of the end of the tour.

Long may you continue to fly for us all, and stay safe.

What is the ride, is it an organized event, charity? Where can I look it up?
