Spooked at first, news of having CLL but digesting it..

After being diagnosed recently w CLL, and hearing the news it didn't seep in at first, now it has.. it's getting there I should say..after understanding some what of it, and reading others stories, and articles I read, I am not so wound up, last 3 nights I have slept better, and just accepting it, and thinking positive and living life! For me, things that come into your life that are not great, I learn from it, try not to let it take hold of my life, and LIVE LIFE! It sounds great, reading it back what I just wrote, I'm a strong person been told, and with God's help.. and LIVING LIFE, not let it live you! THINKING POSITIVE.. NEED to stay busy!! :)

Hi Ames,

I'm so glad you’re feeling a bit better now. It's great that you're thinking more positively and are trying to learn from the hard things that come into your life. Not always easy (I'm not very good at it myself), but it's a great attitude and I can sense your determination to do it. :-)

You might like to read these posts written especially for newly diagnosed folk. They are a collection of points gathered from the experiences of many folk on this site, and are suggestions for "things we can do" to help our journey with CLL. Nothing complicated, just simple, do-able things.

Hi Ames,

Welcome to the community, I appreciate it is not one you'd select to be in, however, a warm welcome anyway. Three important things (in my opinion):

1: Try to control the panic and worry, CLL is normally a very slow burner so you should have time to contemplate what is happening and make your decisions

2: Read Paula's posts about coping with CLL, she has provided the links above, they are great reading that have had a lot of research

3: Ask questions, we all have experiences that we are happy to share.

4: Live life, enjoy it (don't get hung up with CLL).

OK that was four by we all like a bit more out of life that we expect!!

best, rob
