Reminds me of a surprising incident that I witnessed cycling home from work along a river, which really isn't all that deep and rarely flows during our summer and autumn. A fencing contractor had finished fencing off a section of the riverbank when his brakes obviously failed. He'd been towing a heavy trailer with all his work materials behind his station wagon and both had slid back down the river bank and dropped into one of the few really deep pools in the river.

The ultimate ignominy occurred when they had to cut down his just finished fencing to provide crane access so they could haul his car and trailer out of the river...

Another strange site I saw on that cycle path was Moby Dick bobbing around in a pool after escaping from a riverbank display after an unseasonal flash flood. I also I saw another cyclist carrying off one of the Seven Dwarves - also washed downstream from the same riverbank display.

Morning OR Afternoon - Neil,

You have to see the funny side of life to stay sane!! After all "laughter is the best medicine!"

Having worked in the Construction Industry - I have seen the complete range funny to the outright dangerous situations!

Guys cutting and welding steel with gas burners - wearing sandals, no gloves and cling film wrapped around their faces as protection.

Ladders resting on raised forklift trucks - to get more height.

Falls through old roofs - one of my ex-work colleagues actually landed astride a surprised cow.

Fortunately death rates are falling in the UK Construction Industry, year on year - due to a proactive Health and Safety Executive - but a lot still get prosecuted - recently the roof worker who took his young son to a building site AND left him alone - high up on some wobbly scaffolding.

Regard,

Marty
