Hi All. Have been advised to eat oily fish, as part of healthy eating, will cod liver oil capsules help, need to reduce my cholesterol. Ta.
Yes but mackerel, sardines, herrings, salmon etcetera taste so much nicer. Onions and garlic also help. Look at the HEART UK website for more healthy eating ideas.
I agree, If you're like me and don't eat a lot of fish because of the bones, look for the tinned variety like sardines, mackerel, tuna, and if you really want a yummy treat, try Princes or John West Kippers in sunflower oil. They are delicious! And no bones!!
I use Flasxseed oil which does not have a fishy taste, I put it on my cereal every morning (just suggesting)
I take Omega 3 tablets as I am not a great fish eater - although I do like salmon and trout but I don't have the finances to have it all the time!!!!!!! Also oats and oat based foods are thought to reduce cholesterol too. - so porridge, oat milk, oat based muesli, and oat cakes are a good source. Worth giving all a try. Good luck
I'm with Patch here, but don't overdo the farmed salmon. The gov recommends only once a week because of the pollutants they contain.
Yes agree with windrider re farmed salmon. I buy the organic but it is a treat as it is so expensive. Trout is good and less expensive. Mackerel on the other hand is very cheap as are sardines and herrings.
