sterols help to keep my cholesterol down, whereas statins nearly kill me! SO I'll take the 'risk' until proper studies show real problems. Nice is trying to make drugs safe AND AFFORDABLE to the NHS and have to use available r&d reports, and possibly what is found out later by the self reporting by users They have little to offer as alternatives!!! As herbal medicines are not 'tested' on general groups, the users do not send in satisfaction sheets, but few continue to buy if no useful results, they cannot be endorsed as 'safe' by nice. Also the use of them does not cost the NHS anything!!!

I have joined Healthwatch England,

we start training next week, this will be the chance for Patients to have their say in the running of the Medical services all over the country.

check your local NHS to see where your meetings will be held.

I used to be in the Patients group PPI.we went all over and spoke to all of the Medical people,I suggested having smaller local drop in centres or smaller hospitals,or both....

we now have them,

I am full of ideas for this Group,

one being, check pills before giving to Patients!

I am told that I am unlucky,

most people can take pills without having any trouble...??????

I now know that you are all having problems!!!!!!

not just me.....

if anyone can join Healthwatch?

we can all make a difference,we will be making the NHS new and vibrant again.

we must be heard...

Why are G.P,s directed to get every one to have and lower lower cholesterol counts as the drug companies find ways of lowering readings even further!! I cannot tolerate ANY pharma cuticles on prescription, so use alternatives to keep as low as I can. I feel more at risk with the pharma cuticles, and am glad of a choice of alternatives, even if it is my own prescription.. I have not noticed any adverse reactions to my personally chosen alternatives , but suffered considerable pain and loss of muscle tone both when taking statins and such both when using them and for several years afterwards. To be fare to statins I also react adversely to other medications and have to make the decision to suffer pain and immobility or risk possibly developing problems. We are all to make our own (hopefully informed) choice and to live well.
