IT'S NOT ALWAYS OBVIOUS!

I think alot of people associate any brain tumour/ 'damage' with I.Q. They expect you to be 'simple' ( Horrible term! My best friend back in Manchester had Down's Syndrome and he was fluent in 2 languages, where I only know the one!)

Anyway, When I tell people I have had a tumour I always get the amazed response "I wouldn't have known" or "You don't look ill". I'm about to start my second degree and apparently have an 'Above Average' I.Q and Vocabulary!

I'm not boasting, I'm just giving that as an example of how we are usually ALOT more capable then some people expect.

My tumour was docile instead of cancerous. I also find that when you tell some people this, they automaticly assume it wasn't threatening , like a bunyon or an ingrowing toenail, and easy to remove!

I Wish!

This is something a lot of survivors tell us ! That people assume it’s all over and that a limit in the brain isn’t causing brain injury and that all brain injuries are the same !

But the most tragic is that patients don’t seem to be able to access any rehabilitation care ? You would if you were an adult with a stroke or a head injury from a traffic accident or an infant with cerebral palsy !

Not what you're looking for?
