Pseudodrusen

I have stable wet AMD in my right eye and dry in my left. My consultant has told my GP that I have large solid pseudodrusen at fixation in the dry eye. I have found out what it is but don't really understand what that means for the prognosis in that eye or whether that is why she is reluctant to remove my cataracts which the option seemed to think we're ready. Has anybody else had this diagnosis and knows what it means?

Hi Janbri, I'm really sorry but I have absolutely no experience in eye conditions. I know that AMD means macular degeneration and that there is a wet and dry type, but not much after that. I had a brief look at pseudodrusen online so that I could understand a little of what your diagnosis and prognosis is, but nothing that can offer an answer to your question.

I do think though that all diagnoses and and treatment should and must be a two-way street, so I would urge you to take your question back to your medical professionals, even if you have no direct route back to your consultant.

You could start with your GP and I'm quite sure he or she would help you to obtain the information which you are seeking.

Do you also belong to the Macular Society at HealthUnlocked? One of the members there might have more understanding of your condition.

You are absolutely welcome to remain as member of the Care Community, but we are mainly a group of people who are caring for others, so even collectively this isn't an area of expertise for most of us.

Wishing you well and I hope you can obtain some more information about your condition and its potential treatment as well as the answer to your particular question.

Very best wishes.
