I have a message from the long term medical facility my aunt is at still trying to recover from meningitis. The case worker had told me if she didn’t improve enough she would have to be moved to another facility. I assume this is what the call was about. I just don’t understand what the point is of moving her. Is it just to save costs for them? She’s seems to be improving just very little by little

One long term facility to another
Hi fallen_leaf,
What’s probably happened here is that your aunt’s current placement is unable to give the level of nursing care that that she requires. Some homes are able to give very limited nursing care and can only safely cope with the elderly who remain relatively well.
I’m sure this is quite upsetting news for you but in terms of your aunt’s comfort and safety it’s best that she be placed somewhere her needs can be met.
So it’s best to take on board that this could become a necessity if your aunt doesn’t show improvement soon, but no harm in hoping that she will improve and not need to make a move.
Do let us all know how your aunt gets on and I wish her well and hope she does become well enough to save this upheaval.
Very best wishes.
Thank you for your reply. I talked to them and it was just an update and my aunt seems to be doing better. She is off ventilator more and using CPAP more and sitting up more. I have had a sinus infection for a week and finally went to Dr today so I’ll wait until Friday to see her.
Glad to hear that your aunt is a little better. Hope that continues. It's good news!
Hello fallen_leaf, I echo what Callendersgal has said and let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
Wishing your aunt well and please let us know how things go. Xxxx
