Mobile condenser

Hi my husband has a ULD unfortunately he has been taken ill while on holiday in Spain. He has been discharged from hospital with an oxygen condenser installed at the place he is staying. However the problem is he will need to come home at some point. As he now needs oxygen full time he will need a mobile condenser to use on the journey back to UK.

I have called a company here in the UK to enquire about hire but it will cost approx £80 a day. This is totally outside our ability especially as it is not known yet how long I will need it. This will depend on how quickly he can be assessed as “fit to fly”.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions please.

Get in touch with your insurance company, they should be able to sort this out for you.

Thank you for your reply however he forgot to renew his travel insurance so that is not an option.

Hi Abcdef1234 and sorry to hear about the situation you are in. As exhaustedwife has posted, please contact your insurance company who should be able to help you. If necessary, the insurance company can also arrange for a medical professional [doctor, nurse, or paramedic] to accompany your husband on the flight back to the UK when he has been assessed as being fit to fly]. Please let us know how you get on with this. Are any other forum members able to help Abcdef1234 , please?

Thank you and best wishes.

Really appreciate your comments however he forgot to renew his travel insurance this year so that is not an option

Hi Abcdef1234,

Sorry to hear of your husband's plight. I can't add any more than sorting this out with your insurers. Hopefully you'll be able to do this fairly quickly but until then, if funds are tight for you in the short term, I can only suggest that you use a line of credit, such as a credit card to cover the cost immediately, until you get reimbursement from your holiday insurers.

Very best wishes. I hope things work out for you.

Thank you for your reply however no insurance and don't really want to create an unknown debit amount unless absolutely essential. It's something to think about as a last result I guess.

No travel insurance and he has an illness.....

I do realize that this is stupid and I feel as you do but he forgot and that can't be helped now.

Hi Abcdef1234, I replied to your post earlier but wondered if it may be worth contacting The British Lung Foundation to see if they can offer any advice? Their helpline telephone number is 03000 030 555
