Mom's Poorly Mouth

Thank you to everyone for your helpful advice to my last post. Amazingly mom has rallied well. Her oral thrush continues and she is on the second dose of an alternative medication, and she still has days when she doesn't have much interest in eating. It has meant becoming creative in what I prepare for her. Readybrek for brekky made with fortified drink, pureed fruit and veggies, lots of ice cream and custard. I have also cut the end off a syringe and she seems quite happy to be fed in this manner, but obviously food needs to be capable of being syringed! However she had the hairdresser come yesterday and do a very impish cut to make life easier and her look so much better. She is unbelievable in how she bounces back. We carry on regardless.

Great to hear your mum has rallied and is doing better. I hope she continues and I wish your mum and yourself well. Xxxxx

Live yoghurt is very good.

Hi XSitch38

How lovely to end this week with such a positive post from you.

Although your mum's and your challenges continue you are doing a most wonderful job in keeping her comfortable, and as happy as she can be, in her limited circumstances.

The haircut was a genius idea, and must have given her a great lift in spirits.

I don't care how old or infirm we are, we ladies need that boost that looking better gives us. And it turn it will help you with her care, in having an easier style to look after.

You are very creative with the ways in which you get your mum to eat something, and I hope you'll stick around so that you can help others who may find themselves in the same situation at some time and come here looking for answers.

Very best wishes to both of you, and thanks for the update!
