So yesterday we celebrated the Summer Solstice which marks the longest day of the year, the 'official' start of Summer and the end of Spring! The sporting world is in full swing with the football World Cup, tennis at Queens, and Wimbledon to come, there's a party atmosphere around the place, with people gathering to enjoy and celebrate the good times, sunshine, strawberries and cream.
However for some folks, this can seem a world away from your current situation or experience, struggling to care for loved ones, who are suffering, whose health has deteriorated, and just getting through the day is a challenge. You may feel that the world is passing you by and doesn't care or notice how you are feeling, or the sacrifices you are making and you are just about keeping your head above water coping. The sentiment expressed in the quote and photo above has really touched me recently. You may feel like you are not making a difference in someone's life, or that your small acts of kindness aren't life changing...but they are! By helping one person you are changing the world for that loved one, and their lives would be the poorer. You are making a difference!
So as we come to the end of this week and begin to look forward to the weekend and the week to come, take time to reflect on how amazing you are, and if it's not been exactly a good week, what if anything, could you do differently tomorrow. If you have had breakthroughs, and successes or if you have really struggled this week, do share with us so that we can encourage and support each other in our caring roles.
Try to get out in the sunshine and give yourself permission to relax a little and have some fun too.

Hi MAS_Nurse,
I've been Mrs Clumsy this week, having dropped a dish on my foot and cut two fingers, but I'm actually here to reflect on how grateful I am for our emergency services.
I live in an apartment block of 62 flats, and none of us were delighted to hear the fire alarm going off at about 5.20am last Sunday morning. Although there was no sign of fire, those of us who are sensible enough donned slippers and dressing gowns and trundled down the stairs to gather outside in the street below. To be honest it's something like a fire alarm that actually makes us recognize our neighbours, as it's a pretty soulless city centre sort of dwelling, so even talking to a few people was an adventure in its own right.
But that aside, it was amazing how fast our Fire Service responded to our call for help. They are always there in a flash, false alarm or not and thoroughly checked the block before allowing us all back inside.
And I know that the same can be said when we make emergency calls to the police or ambulance services too, despite financial and manpower cuts over recent years.
I've lived in a country where things were far from like this and I try never to grumble about the actually really amazing help we receive in this country when we need it.
And that absolutely makes me feel good this Friday.
The quote is inspirational and one l will remember.
It’s been a good week, spending time with family, went to grandsons class assembly this morning which was great.
Petes cardio appointment went very well yesterday and his heart is doing great thank goodness.
The weather is lovely and due to stay that way for a while so will make the most of it.
Have a good weekend, enjoy what you can while you can. Thinking of everyone who’s part of this amazing community. Xxxxx
Yes Mydexter, I too arrived along with the NHS in 1948 and heard the same stories at my mum's knee. In fact, lifelong, she never really got used to the NHS being free at point of service, and as my sisters and I grew up, it had to be something pretty nasty before we were taken to see a GP. And I echo your sentiments for the most wonderful Welshman Aneurin (Nye) Bevan whose vision it was to introduce the NHS.
Lovely words of encouragement! By the way, MyBeloved got blood tests back this week and ALL are normal! That was good news. I wonder if PD peeps often get this?
