Hi 31071958,

I am so sorry to hear about your son, what a terrible ordeal you and he and the family have gone through. I hope that he is continuing to recover from his trauma and that you are all getting the support you need from your health professionals. There is some helpful advice about claiming for carers allowance in the pinned posts to the right of your screen. The person you care for must be in receipt of either DLA (disability living allowance) or PIP (personal independent payment). Your local citizens advice may be able to help you,

citizensadvice.org.uk

Also look up :

gov.uk/carers-allowance ( where you can download the application form)

And you may find some help from:

scope.org.uk

mind.org.uk/information-sup

sane ( telephone 0300 304 700)

I hope this may be of some help to you and do try and claim the carers allowance. You are doing a wonderful job in caring for your son, good luck and best wishes to you.
