HELP!! Pain in the bum!!

I fell asleep in the chair this morning, and when I woke I had an intense pain in the top of my buttocks, I couldn't put weight on my left leg without extreme pain. It feels like a really bad cramp that won't go away, the area is hard to touch and very painfully, it eases slightly if I lay face down on the bed. I have a lot of problems with my back and sacro-iliac joint on my right side, and I'm awaiting tests for AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis). The pain in my buttock has not eased over time as I hoped it would, I have taken codiene and gabapentin and tried a freeze spray, but nothing is helping, I phoned my GP surgery and they have put me down for a telephone consultation with my doctor this afternoon, I am full time carer for my husband and Im still having to care for him and its unbearable, I really can't leave him to go to hospital, as he has severe mental health problems so I can't be away from him for long, but the pain is so intense that its making me feel sick, does anyone have any experience of this and any advice how to ease it please? I really don't want to have to call an ambulance! Thank you in advance

I am glad you will have a consultation with your doctor soon. I believe the doctor will want to make sure you don't have a blood clot. I had similar symptoms when I had a blood clot and another time when tests ruled out a blood clot.

Hi Madmel 43, I hope that you are feeling better and your telephone consultation went well. I hope your pain is relieved. Please talk to your GP if you need further help and support and continue to post on the forum so that other members can provide support. Take care, best wishes.

Thank you for your reply, and yes I spoke to my GP and she said it just sounded like a bad muscle spasm brought on by the position that I fell asleep. She told me that I was doing the right thing by keeping active as best I could, and to take 2 gabapentin instead of 1 over the weekend until it felt easier, and to make an appointment with her on monday if it was still causing me pain. The next day it was very sore especially when climbing the stairs but today the soreness has almost gone, I also used ibuprofen gel and freeze spray, (at separate times) and that seemed to help a lot.
