So often we are touched by the wonderful stories of our guests. We'd like to share with you the heartwarming story of husband and wife Mavis and Colin, whose moving tale is testament to the power of ever-lasting love and friendship. Mavis begins:" Colin and I met at a dancehall, we used to go dancing a lot as well as cycling, especially after we brought a tandem when we were courting. Dad gave us a lovely wedding. That was in May 1960. Three days later I turned 18... "

When Mavis developed MS, Colin was her carer, then their roles were suddenly and unexpectedly reversed. Mavis continues: “Colin started getting things going wrong with him. I noticed him being more forgetful and irrational. It became clear he was struggling with the early stages of dementia. He was not himself at all."

Speaking of their devotion to one another Mavis said: "We look after each other. We have been married 57 years and are best friends, lovers and partners. Revitalise was just the icing on the cake of our life together so far. As for the future, you never know what lies round the corner but we just aim to enjoy each other’s company for as long as possible.”

If you too are moved by Mavis and Colin's story or have something you wish to share we would love to hear from you.
