carers allowance
Hello irenemackay, welcome to the care community. It will depend on how much your son looks after you. If you would like to look at the Pinned Post on the right hand side of the screen you will see a very informative post about Carer's Allowance. may I ask what type of help does he give you on a regular basis please. Does anyone else have experience of a family member who looks after someone and are in receipt of the allowance?
Hello, irenemackay.
First you need to be claiming pip personal independence allowance or attendance allowance for your son to be able to claim carers allowance..
Secondly, your son's income is taken into account, so if your son is in full employment and receiving a wage of more than £106 per week, he would be unable to claim carers allowance....
Lastly, your son must provide at least 35 hours of care for you, the care could be shopping, housework, laundry, or cooking meals for you, doing things you find difficult and would help you in your home to stay safe and healthy....
I hope this gives you help.......Steve
