I’ve been asked to join this forum to share experiences and offer advice based on my own working knowledge and expertise. Having worked in the social care sector for over 26 years in residential and community settings in both the private and public sector, I’m happy to offer advice and guidance where appropriate to do so.
During that time, most people I have met that are looking for care services struggle with the complexities of the social care system whilst juggling work and family, sometimes living at a distance, often at a time of crisis and not knowing where to turn. I have seen first-hand the difficulties faced by families when looking for care services and the emotional turmoil they go through at the time.
In 2010 I set up my own care consultancy company to provide advice and practical support to people searching for care for their elderly relatives.
There will be times I may share experiences I have come across during my daily work if I feel it may be of benefit to others as I believe we can all learn from each other by having a conversation.
I am pleased to be part of this forum, where people have the opportunity to share experiences and support each other. Although I work in the social care sector, my story is the same as many others, trying to divide their time and loyalty between family and work commitments.
