Well, it may interest forum members to know that if you're a member of the British Tinnitus Association - tinnitus.org.uk/Pages/Categ... - you can access OtO for free for 12 months by signing up with the e-mail address used to register when you joined the BTA - try.joinoto.com/bta-x-oto

several times, Toughmatthew, I and other posters have encouraged you to go to the website of the British Tinnitus Association where you will find most of your questions answered. There, you can find information about how you can join.

Hi Toughmathew, many of the tinnitus apps out there like the oto app are based on a combination of sound therpy and management techniques(e.g. CBT). I have seen quite a few of your posts on the forum and I think if you are exploring apps then this is a positive step for managing your tinnitus, well done. I know quite a few folks who have used this apps and some have found them really helpful and others not so. Reflecting on what they have told me I think there are some key things I have taken away from these conversations (1) if you want a cure this is not it, cure searching is a waste of time and energy as we know there is no cure (I would say to anyone who has T to stop cure searching as soon as possible as you'll never find it as it doesn't exist, instead use this time and energy to finf management techniques that work for you and work on these as they will eventually help in calming our emotional reaction to our T) therefore my view on apps is that they are a management tool to help cope and hopefully eventually live well with our T (2) If I was back at the start of my T journey I would ensure I used an app with an 'open mind', some of the techniques that the apps offer (CBT, etc.) require time, discipline and energy, these techniques are not just going to work overnight as they are designed to change how we think about our T and these cognitive changes take time. I am no expert on these apps, I am just giving a view of what I have heard from others. I hope this helps in some small way, stay safe.
