Is pulsar tinnitus a side effect of otosclerosis? I also got my right cochlea damaged in a stapendectomy so have little hearing in right ear. Wear an aid in the left ear.
thanks

This probably sounds like a cop-out response, AlexandraMonica, but it is factual - for some people their pulsatile tinnitus may stem from Otosclerosis, but it isn't deemed the most common originating factor.
In a 2017 review of published studies on PT, Otosclerosis was suggested as comprising 11% of cases investigated, behind Idiopathic origins (32%), Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (28%), and Atherosclerosis of the carotid arteries (16%).
Idiopathic in this case signifying no obvious cause, or factors unique to the patient being treated.

Hi, I too have otosclerosis in both ears & 5 weeks ago had a Stapedectomy on my left ear. After the op I had pulsile tinnitus for a very short time but unfortunately it has now turned back into the raging tinnitus I had pre-op. Having the Stapedectomy has massively improved my hearing in the left ear & I now go back in March to possibly get the right ear operated on if I wish. Interesting to hear from a fello otosclerosis sufferer on here .
