I woke up today with new sound, ,Im so afraid... please tell me it will go away ..

So I woke up with new sound in my left ear... Im so afraid from this new condetion .. please tell me it will sutle down and calm... Im so afraid ... have anyone experience a change when they woke up? and how long it last? will it stay? why did this happen? What could change during my sleep that make it "worse"... I had plocked ear every time I wride a car, for week's .. today I felt the blokked ear was easier .. but the ringing changed... any one experiece this? Pleas I need encoregment and help... evrey comment would be helpful ... dont tell me to go to ENT.. I went and did hearing test, it was ok... today going to Jaw specialist.. he may recommand a guard mouth ... help me please... Im so confused and afraid...

Have my wedding next month... this is not the time for all of this

That’s lovely, how nice to have a wedding in sight . Just try and relax I’m sure all your wedding plans have possibly made you a bit anxious . Tinnitus loves a bit of anxiety.You saw your going to a jaw specialist , I too get trouble with the torambidular joint. (Sorry spelt wrong) maybe the specialist will help you . I’m afraid tinnitus can suddenly throw different sounds at us . Some good away some don’t.

Thank you for your kind reply, I went to doctor yesterday, he told me I might have inflammation in my left Tmj, althow I dont have pain or any problem opening my mouth, he put somthing in my mouth and ask me to bite it, when he put it in the right side, my left side hurts, put when he put the "stick" in my left side, I didn't feel any pain in my right side ... I was wonderring, coulde I have inflammation without pain wile chewing?.. weird .. he asked me to do an MRI for my joints, and he will preper a mouth guard for me, he also gave me unti inflamation medicine ... hope I will feel better soon ... did your tmj nake you feel havy head??

Hi Raneen! I know what you’re going through, i woke up with a louder tinnitus in my right ear after it was blocked for a week during a cold. Ive har tinnitus for 17 years but not particularily affected by it, but this ner noise was so intrusive! Could hardly sleep or work.

This has never happened to me before, the blocked ear was completely blocked, couldnt do the valsalva maneuver (equalize pressure?) for a week! When the blockage eased i got a louder noise in my ear. Went to see the GP, and it turned out there was fluid behind my eardrum due to a eustacian tube infection. It did clear up after a couple of weeks, and the noise disappeared, but then i caught a cold again and now my ear is almost blocked again.... at least this time around i know what it is and i wont panic about the louder tinnitus, if i get it again. They said once you get it, youre prone to get it over and over again.

Im not saying this is what you’ve got, but since you mentioned the blocked feeling when driving, it sure sounds that you might have something going on in your ear. A gp could easily check this for you.

Sorry to hear what you went throu... I didnt have problem equalizing pressure, I swollw, yahn.. somtimes it opens right away, sometimes take more 'tryes' ... but evry time i drove my cars, i starts swollw to unblock them ... they block again, I swollo again... tell I get my distination... the doctor check my ears, he said evry thing is ok, today im going to my GP.. did you feel like dizzy? And lightheaded?

Tmj doctor I was yasterday, told me I might have inflammation my lrgt side, sent me to do MRI told me blocked ears could be coused from joints...

Hello Raneen. I’m writing another supportive post to you. When you’re anxious - as you are bound to be before a wedding - then the T thinks it can get the better of you. It’s normal to have changes in the sounds you hear. Don’t worry about these changes. If your ears are blocked then you will need to get them unblocked - seek advice from your doctor. I don’t know if you live in the UK? There are private audiologists around who will unblock your ears, it’s sometimes difficult to get this done through a GP.

I know that if I say ‘just try to relax’ you will feel you cannot relax as everything is so stressful- but relaxation and positive thoughts are the way to go. Go out into the fresh air and listen to the sounds of nature around you, if you can.

Thank you for your advices, and your kind reply, I live in Israel ... I dont have problem equalizing the pressure by swollwing or yahn, but keeps block again ..

I will try to relax, hopfully will get better for all of us.

Hi, please try not to get stressed, the stress xan make the T worse. You may have eustacian tube dysfunction, a blocked tube in yr ear and possibly fluid behind the ear drum, this makes T much worse, I often get this. Wirrh checking with GP. Also try steam inhalination, really helps especially with Olbas oil in.I often get new sounds, strange sounds, like crickets chirping or ringing sounds. They do go away, hopefully your new sound will diminish and go away too.Awesome your wedding is coming up. Take care and have an awesome day. Xx

Thank you a lot, the doctors say My ears is ok.. and no fluids.. I really dont know.. the doctor says it my be Tmj.. althoug I dont have pain...Hope we all feel better..

I have had many new sounds from my tinnitus over the years and like you have been terrified! They all did seem to settle down fortunately 😊 have you tried some Sudafed for the blocked ear? I suffer so bad with blocked ears and they definitely do make the tinnitus worse.

Hi Raneen - I really understand how frightening this is. I have been there but I promise you it will get better. The more you understand about the condition the more this helps. I advise everyone to look up Julian Cowen Hill. He is very soothing and reassuring and has lots of experience with Tinnitus, He has his own YouTube channel plus a phone App called Quieten. There are also lots of positive tinnitus stories on there which really lifted me - Anne MacNab, Frederico from Italy and Isobel Anderton to name but a few. My tinnitus can change numerous times within the day so try not to worry about that too much. Please try to be positive and be good to yourself and things will improve I can assure you.
