Low pitched pulsing hum

I've had high pitched T for over 20 years. I had a head/neck trauma two years ago that made it much worse. Six months ago I started hearing a distant pulsing, motor like sound. Two weeks ago it moved inside my right ear. Im guessing it's a mechanical problem. It's tough to get an appointment with an audiologist these days. In the meanwhile, do any of you well seasoned T vets have an idea of what could be causing the new low pulsing hum sensation, or is this just a further progression of T?

Hello Wringing. I haven’t had your particular sensations but what I DO know from being on this site for the last six months or so is that we all experience our T in different ways.

However, I also think that a change which is worrying you deserves to be sorted out. If you can’t get an audiologist appointment it might be worth pushing via the group in your area that commissions health care. In England they are Commissioning Groups I think. I suspect a quick google will find you the right people.

Hi happy Rosie,

I'm in the San Francisco area, so we don't have any support networks, just liberal politics. It's pay to play here for T patients. That's how I found healthunlocked.

Having been to many specialist over the years for my condition, I've learned not to expect remedies or cures. Mostly I get dismissive responses and a big bill.

Interestingly enough, I have a lawyer friend who has handled T cases and he knows more than the doctors about the specifics.

Oh Wringing I just assumed you were in UK. We are so fortunate that - in spite of its many shortcomings - our health service deals with everything, is free at the point of delivery AND has organisations who oversee all these. As an example, in England (not necessarily all of the UK) we have clinical commissioning groups that determine what money is spent on which service, and they welcome comment. And most hospitals and doctors’ offices (we call them surgeries) have groups of lay people who are consulted.

I’m intrigued that you are in the Bay Area. My sister emigrated to the US fifty years ago and is now in your Part of the world.

Just seen your post as I have not long joined the tinnitus forum

I’m in Scotland do you or do you know of anyone that can advice me on the commission (if one here) on how to go about it?

My tinnitus developed in my right ear now but I get this like tapping clicking sensation a lot now.Brought it up with my doc and as I don’t sleep much (well we all know how hard it is) he just told me it was anxiety.Going round in circles with them!

Hello Jacobite. A couple of thoughts.Firstly, the BTA publiched a few months ago a video conversation with a doctor who explained about doctors not following the latest guidance. I cannot quote the link for the video here but if you contact the BTA admins (to the right of this page) they will direct you. Listen to the whole video, then you might want to approach your doctors surgery again.

Doctors are self-employed practitioners but their standards etc are monitored by Clinical Commissioning Groups. Just go to the NHS website and input clinical commission group as your search term, then your postcode.

Listen each to there own and they do a great job and offer lots of support and help to people suffering but I’m not to keen on them though.A charitable organisation letting a private business run one of there support groups? Shouldn’t be allowed!

Industry and distance traffic? I have traced a source to my living room wall then discovered later my neighbour had recently installed a fish tank.Also my fridge freezer boiler and tv has a low hum

Well, I thought the same kind of thing when my hum first started. I have a home on SF harbor and imagined it was the hum of the cargo ships Diesel engines. I'd get up in the middle of the night and look for them. Well the hum got louder even though I'd moved into a new house up on the mountain. It's not the ships or the compressor at the cafe next door. I then looked into cell phone microwaves. 5G. I'm not saying it's that but I went deep on that investigation and found the telecom industry is right up there with big tobacco in terms of health concerns. I have critically reviewed articles confirming the current scandal.

I think the whistle T is cervical spine issues or "maybe TMJ", not necessarily damaged cochlear in the ear. When your wisdom teeth get removed they tear the nerves in your jaw.

I suspect the humming issue is 5G. I know a lot about it now. It's very bad for living organisms.

My quest goes on.

Note: new reports from authorities verify, 1 of 5 Covid patients get T from it. And those who had T get it much worse after Covid .....Covid long I'm told.

I didn’t want to mention 5G but it could be a possibility.My tinnitus started in 2016 left ear.So couldn’t be 5G.Maybe my right ear as that was last year

If it is cervical problems then I’m better paying to try resolve that than £4000 for tinnitus retraining therapy as that’s what they do initially in the beginning try help you find possible causes

Here’s the thing wringing.Now when you notice tinnitus then you start listening for it all the time and the brain is producing it.TRT teaches you to not listen and accept it.Well regarding the hum,I kept looking for it when I moved and could it maybe be possible we are producing that as well now?

I was wondering about the vaccine and tinnitus.Thanks I will look in to it!
