So I've had T for a year now started last xmas woke up one day feeling a bit off balance and blocked ears! Doc wasnt much help.referred to ent but some how I managed the tones went down and I lived with it mostly not hearing it.had no problem at all for a good 8 months until I went to ent and they only looked in my ears and I had the pressure test and hearing test since that day my ears have been feeling full and T has ramped up in my left ear to new sounds which I can only describe as the sound of the light sabre from star wars.kinda struggling big time with it and also having a few marriage problems too I'm trying so hard not to stress about it but not working to well doctors prescribed me fluoxetine for anxiety but I'm to frightened to take it in case it makes my T louder.any help or advise would be great .....

Hello Nibby75

Welcome to the forum. The first period with T is no doubt the worst and the time when you worry the most. The thing to do is the hardest and that is to not get stressed!!!. Unfortunately that is probably hard for you, especially if you are having marriage difficulties as well. Some people have view on anti depressants. My view is to take what help is available and to listen to the GP. The drugs can be a support during a difficult time. Stress and anxiety is hard to self-diagnose. Others can see it in us before we see it in ourselves. Others stay clear of drugs and that is fine for them.

I really hope that your T is temporary and soon passes. Some people quickly habituate to it and soon don't notice it at all. Fingers crossed that you are one of the luck ones. The BTA are good to call for advice and support. They have lots of useful information.

Hope you marriage problems gets sorted out one way or the other. Be kind to yourself and do everything to keep your stress levels low. T feeds on stress. That is one thing that we all agree on!!!

Wishing you peace and quiet.

Ade

Thank you so much for your support! Was doing so well and then bang out the blue it's back but it's sometimes getting quite then ramping up again! I've literally just had 5 min silence with just my usual ringing but alas the other tone came back..will try and relax a bit more and not get so stressed x

I find support groups are I winner for me if you can get to one. I was prescribed antidepressants and didn't take them for being scared. The support group gave me the push I needed to see that people live with tinnitus years and years and live normal life's. However if I head back to the dark place I was in I will take them. Mental health is serious and sometimes we all need help to get back on track.

Take care of yourself x
