Give your GP a sputum sample. It could be you are on the wrong antibiotic. The harmful bacteria or bugs don't always respond to amoxicillin. My GP has put me on Doxycycline the last couple of times and it seems to works better for me. I have a 3 week home supply of these now for the next flare up. As said take a sputum sample to you GP so it can be analysed to determine the right antibiotic to use. It usually takes about 3 days for the results to come back.

Thank you Ceejay65,I very much appreciate your advice,I will be sending a sputum test into my GP, as to date I have only ever been asked to send in 1 sputum test &that was quite some time ago,so hopefully I will be prescribed the correct antibiotic this time,I am glad all is well with you,Ceejay65 & I wish you good health & much happiness for the future..

Morning Primrose123

I have asthma and was diagnosed with mild Bronchiectasis last year.

I found that I had a cough for quite a while with mucus, just before my diagnosis. I was started on Carbocisteine tabs 2 three times a day, and my cough stopped almost immediately. It thins down the mucus, it was such an irritant for me.

I would talk to your consultant or respiratory nurses, they will help x
