Hi all, you learn something new everyday, I have early stage cirrhosis, and for the last 9 mths I've had very painful neck and shoulder pain, I finally went to my GP the other day, and was very surprised to be told it was due to my liver (cirrhosis) and the nerve that goes down your neck to your liver, He mentioned pain meds, but my cirrhosis was caused through medication so I said No: He also mentioned a Tens unit. Which got delivered this morning.. So my neck / shoulder have had some fun jumping around this afternoon, my question is would going to a physio or some other sort of therapy help with the pain?? Any info would be gratefully appreciated x
Neck and shoulder pain: Hi all, you... - British Liver Trust
Neck and shoulder pain
This type of pain is usually called 'referred shoulder pain' .... in the right hand side it can be liver and/or gall bladder related and in the left hand side it's often spleen related though ANY pain in the upper chest, arms, shoulders and neck/jaw should be medically checked out to rule out cardiac related issues.
(Hubby has horrific referred left shoulder pain when his spleen died off following embolization of aneurysms).
Doing a quick search of physiotherapy for referred shoulder pain does indeed say it can be of help so maybe something to look into.

You should be able to self refer yourself to your nearest nhs physio hub, they will assess and help you with an exercise plan. You normally get 4 to 6 appointments so they can assess as you go, if it helps why not try xx
I have early stage comp cirrhosis and had this exact same thing, along with tingly fingers. Turned out to be carpal tunnel. Operation fixed it. Just saying 😌
