I have decompensated cirrhosis of the liver, Addison disease, colitis, and just had a stroke 3 weeks ago. My daughter lives at home with me who is blind and is mentally handicapped, she is 53 years old, she has kidney failure have always cared for her at home by myself without any outside help until I became ill with cirrhosis of the liver, I also was a full time carer in the community, i had to stop working because of the illness. The liver condition I have was caused by the medication I was put on for colitis which I have had for round about 40 years

Oh my lordy, such a lot to have going on all at once. Obviously things are pretty tough just now and you are evidently quite poorly with decompensated cirrhosis symptoms and now your stroke. I am hoping you have started to get care plans in place and things organized for your daughter going forward as well as your own care. Having just nursed my husband through a massively failing liver there are going to be some hard times ahead for you both.
My thoughts are very much with you.
Katie
I’m so sorry to hear what you and indeed your daughter are doing through, there is no advice I can give sorry other than to say I wish yous nothing but the best of luck and hope your liver can become compensated in time and you can regain all your strength to take full care of yourself and your daughter. Good luck and take care.
I am so sorry to hear about your situation and cannot even start to imagine how you keep so strong. I have great admiration and respect for all you have done for your daughter and the community. Perhaps now is the time to seek help and I sincerely hope that it is out there for you.
Hi Izzy, I’m sorry to hear about your situation. I hope Social Services are on the case and putting support in place for both you and your daughter. Citizens Advice are really good at helping with benefit claims etc. Lots of people on here to support you with the liver side of things. Best wishes
