liver transplant in August 2021

My age is 46 I had a liver transplant in August 2021, but since the liver transplant, my health has not been going well, which means I have been experiencing pain in the whole body. Itching on the body which is cured by taking medicine. Abdominal swelling and a little more walking can increase severe abdominal swelling and make it difficult to walk. Also the nausea did not go away. For two years my stomach was a bit too big and despite repeatedly pointing it out to the doctors, they ignored it and ignored it every time. For the past month my stomach has become extremely big and it has become very difficult to even sit, even to stand up, only lying down gives me some relief. Now I am admitted in the hospital, they will drain the ascites from my stomach, they will take a sample of the ascites in the stomach, there is a infection in it, so they are saying that after treating this infection first, we can drain all the ascites When I asked why this ascites is in my stomach, they are saying that my liver has failed. But LFT test is not showing any such problem. LFT is telling that all my liver numbers are fine. Some numbers are changed but too much. Can anyone guide me as to what could be causing this ascites . Has it reached this point due to the negligence of the doctors? I am currently taking 11 to 12 different medications totaling around 22 to 23. Tablets and capsules

Hi,

Sorry I can’t give any info whatsoever on your experience. It sounds like you have had a very difficult time.

Hopefully someone can give you some info to help, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get to the bottom of the cause and improvements are made.

Dear Muz-ahmed,

If you would find it useful to talk things over, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 (excluding bank holidays).

Also, we facilitate a range of virtual support groups for people living with a liver condition (and their families and carers).

If you would find it helpful to speak to others with shared experience, you can register to join a group here:
