I’ve had test results which have been increasing for a while, fell which felt great but massively spiked to dangerous levels.
tests being done for haemochromatosis but more than likely alcohol related.
cutting alcohol will be hard and I’m getting help for it.
it’s really worrying me as doctor is amazed I’m not yellow. Did anyone manage to bring down levels quickly and if so, any tips? I’m under no illusion this stage is life threatening and it’s scary.

I can understand how you’re feeling. I got my diagnosis pretty much out the blue whilst in hospital for a bleeding tongue.
What I found that once decompensated cirrhosis was mentioned, stopping drinking was easy.
The first few months was a difficult change to life, that was the hard part for me. But knowing I had caused this was more difficult.
Alcohol is so heavily involved in our culture it is a massive change removing it.
But…… the alternative is worse. It’s good you’re seeking help. Keep it up! I personally found my diagnosis enough to change. It will be 1 year next week sober. Your at a cross roads in your life right now.
Hopefully your liver isn’t to damaged, but use this experience to make a change. Otherwise the outcome will be inevitable at some point.
Alcohol is the obvious thing to address. But also you need to eat a healthy diet. Refined sugar is tough on the liver so cut that too, if you can. Also some prescription drugs and supplements are tough on the liver. NSAIDs like Ibuprofen particularly spring to mind so if you take that then get advice from your GP as to what to take instead.

Best thing to do is no more bad habits … drinking,…smoking …and eating red meat….eat lots of veggies and fruits and drink water with some concentrate lemon juice and eat a little every two hours… I’m doing so much better with this change! When I was in the hospital the doctor told me maybe two weeks. Five and a half years later doing pretty good. It is all about diet and exercise..🙏 Wish you well!
Whether or not red meat is or is not bad for you is a controversial topic. Those that follow the so called "Carnivore" diet (google it) eat NOTHING but red meat and many have lost a lot of weight, one guy cured his psoriasis by eating nothing but meat and some selected fruits. KETO is read meat heavy too. I have heard that carbohydrates --- those are thing things that "get you".
Not arguing with you, not trying to start a tussle, just saying this is an issue that dieticians fight over. All the best to one and all!

it took over a year to get my levels slightly lower. However I did have juandice and my bilirubin is finally 17 months later in the normal range. If your liver is past the fatty liver stage it will take over a year or years and may never be if you have developed scarring. Think of it this way, how long did it take to do the damage? Years I imagine. No quick fix. What really helped me was smoothies with tons of veg and turmeric. Healthy diet, no drinking, exercise if you can and take the meds the doctor prescribed to sustain your liver. Once it fails it’s the worst feeling in the world.
