Hi, I had a stroke due to massive blood loss from varicies, this was the first and only symptom I had of liver disease. My consultant has said he's never known it happen before. Apparently it was fairly unique as it was a double sides stroke affecting both sides of my body. I can't remember what happened as I was rushed in for an endoscopy and woke up 3 days later to be told I'd had a stroke but it could have been much worse, both my arms were completely paralysed after a week I could wiggle my fingers and gradually everything came back. This was 15 years ago and now the only problems I have is a slight issue with my fingers. Hilary xx
Thanks so much for sharing. My husband has liver disease and was doing really well with his recovery when he had a stroke, we believe it was due to irregular heart beat. A year on, medically he's much better, much less pain but his mobility is still poor but improving very slowly. Every time he gets something like a cold or change in medication it sets him right back and he almost has to start again with mobility. Its a slow road but we are positive and your story is inspiring. How long was it before you were mobile/independent again after the stroke?
