Hangover

75 and been a lifelong social drinker but for 18 months averaged no more than 10 units per week as I couldn't take the hangovers. Now if I have more than 4 units alc at night I need to sleep most of next day. Is this due to liver not functioning.? I have regular blood tests and no liver, kidney or other problems.

Yes, I believe it’s due to liver function. It was for me.

I think this is true for everyone - liver issues or not - as we get up in years. Surely you have heard someone get frustrated about some complication (not necessarily liver related, it could be a long standing problem of any sort) and say "Argh, I'm too old for this". Well, I think hangovers are one example of something we all are getting too old for.
