Just read your post and previous ones and you sound like a younger version of myself. I’m nearly 73.
My recent scores on fibroscan were kPa 5.9 ( gone up from 4.3 in January 2022 ) and CAP score 261 (down from 270).
I too have osteo arthritis and most of the markers for rhematoid but not one crucial one, as well as underactive thyroid and degeneration in the neck/ spine. My BMI is now 27 from 29.
I was diagnosed with fatty liver following an ultrasound and ELF test.
I was told at my first consultation by a specialist not to worry as kPa of 4.3 shows no fibrosis but 270 CAP was moderate/high but could be reduced by losing weight and exercising. He also advised only drinking alcohol occasionally. As it wasn’t a problem for me I gave it up completely. CAP 261 doesn’t seem a big drop in 17 months but it’s put me into a lower category on the chart (11-33% fat in liver) which is psychologically much better.
I’ve focussed on eating healthily and upping my exercise. It’s working in that I rarely get pain in my liver area and my skin is much less itchy. I think it’s also impacted on my arthritis and neuropathy and I feel generally much better and fitter. I often feel tired so rest when I can.
I exercise quite alot just walking but I'm alot more active
This scan wasn't great as she couldn't get cap readings guess I will just have to go on my ultrasound as it said not alot of fat I can't do anymore really I haven't drank for 2 years
Your kPa score is low so no problem and whatever your CAP score is it’s better for your general health to eat healthily and exercise to bring your weight down and give alcohol a miss. You have done really well so far . X
