Hello

I am worried sick.

Had LFTS taken 4 weeks ago and they are v high. My clottings results are fine and kidney function tests normal. The GP made a ‘FEB4’ calculation of 9. Which she says is very significant. I was a heavy drinker but I’ve been scared sober. I have a fibroscan on 23 June and app with gastro.

Can anyone explain what an FEB4 is and is a diagnostic or a risk calculator.

Much appreciated

I think your referring to FIB4!And possibly the score is 0.9 not 9.0. You need to revisit your Dr for clarification.

If it's 0.9 it's not bad.

Fibroscan should make it clearer and hopefully no further investigation needed.

Hi Roy

Thanks for the reply. apologies for the typo. I've had a look at my medical records and afraid FIB 4 is actually 10.32 (No decimal point in front) A bit shellshocked but still unsure of its relevance. I'm refusing to Dr Google.

Your Fib4 score is your age, AST, ALT and platelets calculated in a given formula. See here:mdcalc.com/calc/2200/fibros...

Mine is currently 3.79 which is advance fibrosis or cirrhosis. I am having a Fibroscan to give a better diagnosis.

Thanks LilacPoppy.

I’ve double checked my FIB4 score again today with GP and it’s correct. Still don’t understand its significance. Feeling a bit lost/freaking out. I don’t have ascites, no jaundice, no fatigue - healthy appetite. Guess I’ll have to wait for my fibroscan.

Quick update. Hope everyone is well.

Had my fibroscan on Friday & it was a 8.1 kPa reading with a very fatty liver. So waiting for Gastrointestinal cons and a lot of lifestyle changes to think about in the meantime
