I’ve been poorly for about two months now, utterl exhausted, crazy itching and nasty headaches. I had bloods and my ALT is very high and my phosphatase and ferritin. The doctor has now completed full liver bloods but I am of course worried. Any advice etc gratefully received. Could the symptoms be linked? Thank you

Dear Sprogget,
If you [are in the UK and] would find it useful to talk things over, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 (excluding bank holidays)
Best wishes
British Liver Trust
There could be a linkage but no one here could really suggest a cause as many things can affect those results and give those symptoms. Some could be short term, like an acute infection or it could be something of an underlying disease. Really it'll be down to your doctor to keep running tests to try and track down the cause and that in itself can just be process of elimination. So you may just need to be a bit patient with it.I see the trust has suggested you contact their helpline. That would be worthwhile to do I'm sure. They may be able to run things through with you as to the general protocols in cases like this.
If ferritin levels are high and your exhausted maybe ask to be checked for hemachromatosis to rule it out.
My brothers have it and this is simply managed. If not managed it can lead to Liver disease but I’m not a doctor. Just my offering the info I have.
Best of luck and I hope you can get answers.
