new diagnosis of liver cirrhosis
Hi Winny - welcome to the forum.
Have you actually received a cirrhosis diagnosis? Your profile seems to indicate you are still awaiting results and further tests for a lumpy, bumpy liver.
Everyone's liver condition is totally different so you can't compare notes with others as to what their condition is and how it might relate to your own.
The BLT has a useful page on cirrhosis and it's many symptoms at:- britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...
You'll get loads of support here as you undergo further investigations.

thanks for responding. All I know is the consultant who was undertaking the endoscopy said I did not have cancer of the pancreas or liverBUT I had liver cirrhosis. Asked me about my alcohol consumption which is almost non existent , said I was a very unusual case and was going to have me referred to him and would request a fybroscan. I suppose I will just need to be patient and await further contact from him.
There are many kinds of liver disease that can lead to cirrhosis without any involvement of alcohol so they will need to establish what has caused it. There will likely be more tests - more bloods, scans and possibly even a liver biopsy if cause isn't obvious.
My hubby is life long t-total and still presented with decompensated cirrhosis back in 2012. In his case his cirrhosis has been caused by an auto immune liver disease. There are numerous auto immune conditions, hereditory and genetic conditions, viral and more lifestyle related things.
Fibroscan will help establish whether you do indeed have cirrhosis, it sounds like the consultant who did your endoscopy must have some information from your earlier tests that hasn't yet been fully discussed with you or else he saw changes in your oesophagus that can be related to portal hypertension - a condition which is a side effect of cirrhosis or other conditions related to changed in liver texture. There are a few members of the forum who have lumpy, bumpy, nodular liver texture which isn't cirrhosis at all but another condition called focal nodular hyperplasia.
You really need to have a full discussion with your doctor once the tests are all done and they know the full picture.
You can't compare your symptoms to others and deduce that your conditions are the same because each person's liver journey is pretty unique.

hi Windy, what symptoms are you suffering from. It is generally via the presence of specific symptoms which determine if you are decompensated or not. It’s also worth saying that a person can go from compensated to decompensated and back again
Hi Winny. Have you had your iron levels checked? Haemochromatosis (iron overload disorder) can cause cirrhosis and is more common than previously thought.
I wasn’t aware an endoscopy can be used to diagnose cirrhosis. I will say an endoscopy can reveal indications of cirrhosis such as varices. It was the varices the gastro found combined with other testing that led to my referral to a hepatologist. After additional testing with a fibroscan and mre I was diagnosed with compensated cirrhosis. Did they find varices during your endoscopy? That procedure alone can’t be used to diagnose liver disease as far as I know.
