Hi there. I am very worried about my mum who is 80 and has gallstones.
About a year and a half ago, she became very ill with cholecystitis and a blocked bile duct. She was admitted to hospital and was treated for what I suspect was biliary sepsis and the blocked bile duct was cleared by ECPR. The surgeon wanted to remove the gall bladder, but mum was very poorly after the sepsis and was very worried about my elderly father (she is his carer) so she decided to postpone the gall bladder surgery.
The specialist has since told her that she will now be unable to undergo gall bladder surgery due to other health conditions and that it would be too risky.
Mum has fairly constant pain from the gall stones and continues to have 'flare-ups' where she feels extremely unwell and nauseous.
I feel she should be given support with living with this if there is no chance of surgery.
i wonder if anyone has any advice for me.
