Ok I’m in South Africa so I wandered onto this forum by accident. I had some good answers to questions I had, hence I am still here.
In your opinion do you think a doctor would let you wait for 4 weeks for a diagnosis if you’re seriously ill or is the Doc just fishing? LFT already taken and “a bit concerned” but she was happy to wait for 4 weeks to give me an update and do a new LFT. Haven’t heard results of the last one yet - that’s tomorrow- but I’m thinking if it was life threatening she would’ve said so with the first LFT?
Just curious how quickly you heard something was wrong.
I am adjusting my lifestyle and going to exercise more (been sick with tonsillitis/pharyngitis for a bit) so my exercise routine took a nose dive.
Anyway basically: should I be concerned or calm down with the delay she gave the first time around?
Lawd what a ramble. My apologies.

I would calm down until you know more, it sounds like doctor is on the ball. One set of LFT's isn't enough to determine anything, sometimes figures could be a bit out of range and the normal thing to do would be to wait a bit then repeat the tests to see if it was a blip or is there a pattern. If there is a repeat of the irregular bloods then you want more follow up, more thorough full blood tests, possibly scans etc. If you were fighting this throat issue at the time of your first bloods then that could have pushed bloods out of range.
Sorry can't see your earlier posts, have you perhaps made a new account or deleted earlier one.
Tomorrow you should know more of what doctor is thinking/planning to do.
HI. Before my diagnosis I had 3 sets of LFT's done over a few months followed by an ultrasound scan and a biopsy in that order Sometimes the numbers settle back down after a virus or infection/inflammation.
I was told by my GP that if ALT crept over 400 then there is a problem. Mine went crept up over 400 and it was then that I was referred for further investigations. I was diagnosed with AIH. So don't worry it is normal for your doc to repeat bloods.
I agree with Katie, so many things can cause a blip in your liver results it’s standard in the UK for doctors to say let’s retest in 4 weeks. Often whatever was causing the issue has cleared through your system.
As others have said, what you are experiencing from your doctor is pretty normal practice. Because the liver is a bit of a sensitive beastie, and is a bit of a cry baby, lots of things can upset it and lead to abnormal liver test results. A lot of times these are just temporary and go away on their own when whatever is causing the issue subsides, such as an infection. So the gap in appointments is to give your liver and body a chance to get over it before a retest is taken. This can then help determine if anything further needs to be looked at or not.
