I should start by saying my partner has some anxiety regarding medical issues and has been quite worried since being listed recently- I had asked before about various liver types. Is there anyone here who has received a DCD liver and can let me know the experience.
He is very grateful to be offered the chance of going on the transplant list but he is now worried and stressing that should he be given a DCD liver that this would mean it wouldn't last as long and he may need another. Our transplant hospital has a profusion machine. It would be great to hear some personal experiences if anyone could share them
thank you

I think it would be best to speak to your transplant Coordinators or consultant about this they can talk through the options and know the facts rather then anecdotal opinions.
Personally i ticked all the boxes and left it to the surgeon to decide, i believe dcd donors are much rarer as cardiac arrests can happen anywhere, but dbd donors are on life support in hospital.
My liver was part of the trial for the perfusion machine
We facilitate a range of virtual support groups for people living with a liver condition (and their families and carers). Including pre and post transplant groups.
If you would find it helpful to speak to others with shared experience, you can register to join a group here
