Please help ..

hi all i hhhad uti 3 lots of antibiotics alt was 37 had bloods again 3 weeks after went to 27 alt but ive just had gastroenteritis and my alt is 70alt im worried sick its not going to go down my question is do infections raise alt ?had ultrasound 6 months ago all nnormal xx thanks from a concerned mum x

Yes, your liver forms part of your immune system so when your body is fighting any infection you might expect your liver bloods to be marginally elevated as yours are. Your liver bloods will fluctuate throughout the day too.

One word of caution if you are having repeat UTI's - there are certain antibiotics which when used long term have have known to trigger auto immune liver illness. Nitrofurantoin for one. Ok as a one off prescription and is very effective but if used longer term it can prove a problem.

thank u katie i had 3 lots 5 months ago now just got oveover gastroenteritis i wonder why its higher due to the gastroenteritis rather than the uti?my house hold stoll have tthe poos after after a week so we had it bad xxx
