6 month appointments

Good morning all!

Just wondering if anyone is having to wait longer to hear about their six monthlyappointments.

My ‘holy trinity’ of appointments last year were staggered - Consultant at the beginning of September, ultrasound end of October and AFP mid December.

Fortunately I do not have any causes for concern and have not needed to contact my GP/consultant for anything. Just wondering if a little nudge is needed and whether a call to my consultant’s secretary is needed.

I know their are huge backlogs within the NHS and I’m not a priority. I suppose because I’m a week off my 1 year diagnosis ‘anniversary’ it’s on my mind (not at all in a negative way!😉) I think it’s just a peace of mind thing! I like routine! 😂

Mine have moved to 8 monthly with the consultant. Although am getting my bloods and scans at six months. I think he orders the tests and checks there is nothing awful and then books me in when there’s a slot with him.

Ah, right. It kind of makes sense really. If everything seems ok and there is nothing new to report on bloods, scans etc then I suppose there’s no need to have appointments so frequently. Many thanks for getting back to me!

We are in the same boat. US and bloods done in Feb (after 2 email reminders to hospital as they were due in November 2021) but we are still waiting for follow up consult. Now we have copies of Feb results I’m not so anxious as can see that things are pretty stable but if we hadn’t got those results ( and we have had to fight to get them) I would be very concerned right now. Also awaiting endoscopy ( due Dec 2021) but received a letter last month that this would be booked. The previous regime of regular 6 monthly followed by fairly quick follow on consult seem to have gone by the way.

It certainly seems that it has. I feel your frustration.! I like routine, and it doesn’t seem fair to have to chase up appointments. As much as I much as am pretty easy going, I often have thoughts about how long it has been since an appointment. My last liver bloods was 8 months ago (along with consultant appointment. Bloods after the appointment and then await a letter with the verdict (which seems a bit odd!) . Ultrasound was 7 months. I’ll leave it a couple of weeks and get in touch I think!

Mine are due anyday. It’s doesn’t matter how backlogged the system is,my health is as important as anyone else’s. I’ll be chasing up.

Absolutely. These appointments are important and you need to be up to date with where you are with things!
