Hi Lippy,
From my very first appointment at QE un feb 2019, my transplant in May 2019, and continued visits, especially immediately post transplant, I can say, hand on heart, I could not have wished for a better service.
I was informed of the process all the way through, and kept very well informed of all issues as they happen.
I completely get how nervous and apprehensive you both are, I can remember feeling very nervous going for my assessment days, but they were incredibly informative.
Please pm me if you’d like further details, or even a chat to you both about the process. I’m a big fan of the QE!!
Good luck, Andy.
Hi, I had a transplant at QE in Sept 2020 and I can honestly say that the care I have received, from assessment to present day, has been outstanding. I can supply you with further details if you pm me. Wishing you all the best and I can assure you that you are in the best hands possible. Take care.
My partner is going for day 1 of assessment on 6th June.He has had 2 assessments previously and both times it was a good experience, lots of information and very organised. He has never been admitted, the second part is usually 2 days and can be quite tiring, we have to travel so usually stay overnight in a hotel nearby. His previous assessments were before covid so I don’t know if things have changed.
I can't see any posts that could concern you.Has the posts your referring to been removed?
Do you mean about the journey there?

I was one of the people that have not received good care from the QE. I have been an inpatient many times and I live on the doorstep. I am a young female and unfortunately I have had to fight to get help...both for my cancer and my liver issue. It may all depend on the consultant that you reveive and obviously it is subjective. I'm sure if people receive the care and medical intervention they want then they will be happy with the care they receive. But unfortunately, that is not the case for me. So I am not a fan of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
My son is under the care of QEHB, he has cirrhosis and was diagnosed just over 2 years ago. The care he has received there has been second to none by everyone in every department that he has seen in. It's a 2 and a half hour drive away and we were told that some of the care could be done by our local hospital but would much rather travel and receive the excellent care that he receives in Birmingham.
I can only reiterate what others have said. I received the best care from QEH, from my first initial visit to the post transplant care. When you are under the pre-transplant team, you will be reassured that you see the same people every time, they get to know you and your accompanying partner and never rush you if you have questions, no matter how trivial. Good luck and I hope your husband gets the treatment he needs x
Just got home and yes we were really happy with first appointment and how it went dr armstrong was fantastic and we now have hubby's first full day appointment booked in in 3 weeks time for tests and another step nearer to transplant .yes we were told today hubby does need a new liver so plan is to build his strength he has a lot of muscle waste get him stronger to withstand the operation. Thankyou for your positive reply hope all is well take care 🥰
