My sister passed away a year ago now with unknown hepatitis. Ive noticed on the TV recently that 74 children have been diagnosed with unknown hepatitis and Im wondering if there’s a link I guess? If unknown hepatitis is on the rise? How do I find out the statics of unknown hepatitis? I’d be interested to chat with anyone else who’s gone through this. Or if anyone can offer any information on this subject.

Unknown Hepatitis
Unfortunately hepatitis is a bit of a broad term. There is obviously the Hepatitis Viruses, but also anything that can cause inflammation in the liver can be referred to as hepatitis. Alas the causes of that are many and numerous.
I suspect hepatitis as a symptom, I.e. a secondary effect of something else, is probably a far greater in finding than hepatitis virus being the primary cause. I therefore suspect the answer to your question may be almost the same as how long is a piece of string.
Sorry thats probably not that helpful. But, hopefully it adds a little bit of context for your search.
HI. Hepatitis means swollen Liver. Can be many many causes. You do state that she died of Hepatitis and not Cirrhosis. That is interesting since it hints at a more acute event than decades long swelling which leads to Cirrhosis. I have seen in your posts than she was taking "herbal tablets", I have known of a couple of cases where Green Tea capsules caused Hepatitis. They did live but they got pretty ill. So it is a valid line of thought about what she was taking.
But this sort of thing happens more than what people realise, where they cant give a actual cause and call it "cryptogenic". I understand you want answers, you could investigate the pills she was taking etc, but its not going to bring her back. I think you will only ever get some opinion of what went on rather than a measurable fact that X,Y, Z was the cause. Maybe its time for you to think of yourself, beating yourself up about the need for answers can do you some mental harm in the long run.
