Hi,
You are welcome to call our nurse led helpline for a supportive chat on 0800 652 7330 Mon to Fri 10am to 3pm.
Call the helpline for a supportive chat by all means. My standard advice would be to abstain from all alcohol wef immediately, stop smoking, avoid salt and try to eat healthily. Exercise if you can. Just to put you in the picture, the standard follow up for compensated cirrhosis is six monthly ultrasounds and a gastroscopy every two years. If the doctors can find out why you have fibroses, then removing the cause will prevent your liver from getting worse and might even reverse the damage. Good luck.
Hi welcome ,ive only been on here since the begining of the year, as same as you have liver problems ,i to had a fibroscan in january it was a follow up scan as i had one a year before which my score was f2 then this year im f3 which is a jump from my last scan as im not a drinker plus im an active person this is worrying ,i have an appointment in 2 weeks to find out whats next they did say in my letter they may do a biospy so il wait and see ,i have lost weight in the last 15 months which is a good thing ,its hard but try not to worry and wait for your appointment ive had to wait 3 months for this one i look at it if the doctors are really worried then they would have seen me earlier so i try not to think about it ,this forum is great and people are lovely if you have any worries just give the trust a ring as they are here for you ,good luck with your appointment as soon as i have any news on mine il update everyone 😊
Have you had any blood tests for Autoimmune Hepatitis, Hepatitis B and C and Alfa Antitrypsin along with your normal blood tests? I was given those along with a Fibroscan which gave 2 scores. One for fibrosis and one for the amount of fat in my liver. Given that you are not a drinker and your age you need investigation to find out what’s causing the fibrosis and like you say prevent it developing into cirrhosis. From what I have learnt it seems to be done by eliminating illnesses til a diagnosis is reached. In the meantime while you are waiting for tests eat very healthily and try to lose weight if you are overweight , exercise, don’t drink alcohol and cut out sugar and salt as much as you can. My diagnosis was high fatty liver with little fibrosis and this is the advice I was given by a top consultant. He wasn’t too concerned because of my age (71) but in your case at 30 you need some answers. Wishing you all the best and let us know how you get onX
Hi Tot.....Are you a healthy weight and avoiding fats and sugars? Diet and exercise can play a huge part in maintaining a healthy liver.
Good news. Good luck with getting some much needed answers for your condition.Best wishes
