I do. I have cirrhosis and I am cold all the time. Even in the summer. I don't know what is to be done for it. Just wear sweaters more often I guess.--Pam

Yes my hubby always felt the cold when he was ill. He tried to keep moving as much as possible. You stay warmer when the blood is circulating more effectively. He wore several thin layers which is more effective than 1 or 2 thick layers. Also a woolie hat to stop the heat going out of the top of your head and invest in some thermal undies. Roll on summer eh ? 🌞

I never thought about that positive. It makes sense though. I’m actually the opposite and abnormally hot all the time. My feet always use to stay cold since I was a kid. Now they are hot. Cirrhosis is weird.

Hi... Before my transplant I felt cold all the time. I believe it us caused my the fact that normally the activity of the liver generates a lot of the heat in your body. When your liver is not working properly you are not producing the same heat so then really feel the cold. I just always wore layers and kept a throw at hand for when I needed extra warmth 😊

Morning suduko,

Yes, it’s one of the symptoms I’m afraid. I used to sit on the radiator with jumper and coat on, heating up full and still shivering, while everyone around me were sweating!!

The liver acts as the body’s radiator, and it’s one of the functions that seem to go by the wayside when cirrhosis develops.

Hi so even though My liver is now compensating I would still feel this cold? I wear a couple of jumpers and the heating is always high my husband wonders why I'm so cold when he is sweating 😊. Thanks for your reply

Have you had your thyroid checked? Under active thyroid can make you feel cold. if your liver is compensated, it might be worth checking with your GP and getting thyroid added to your next blood test. Loads of people have under active thyroids and just take thyroxine for it.

Back in July when my partner was suffering from acute alcoholic hepatitis he was always cold. We had the central heating on full with two electric fan heaters, and he was wrapped up in a jumper and a dressing gown. Since then his hepatitis has cleared and he’s been diagnosed with F3 fibrosis but he still feels the cold, just not as much as before.

Yes, absolutely. I'd be sat in the office even in the summer with my coat on acting as a blanket, lol.

Alas, it seems quite a common symptom with cirrhosis. I believe its because your liver is your body's energy generator.

Last few days, been feeling cold, it's lack of energy, because Liver no longer stores energy. Wrap and roll on the days of a very hot summer.

My mum used to wear thermals all year round. We also bought her a coat with heated panels in it regatta.com/womens-voltera-.... You can also get heated blankets to use as a throw on the sofa.

Hi thanks for your reply I am wearing thermal vest and thermal long sleeved top and jumper and still cold. I also have heat pad and dressing gown but the coat you bought your mum sounds great 👍

A great idea. I had two thermal vest on earlier this week. Summer, hopefully, will warm us through.

My husband is cold too, he is decompensated liver. I brought him thermal long John's and vests to wear and that seems to help a lot.

Yes, sooo cold I could cry. I wore thermals under my clothes in the hot covid lockdown. You liver is responsible for warming your blood to regulate body temperature
