Starting to See Sense

A couple of months ago I wrote about a friend who was still drinking heavily despite scarring on his liver. The good news is he has been dry for two weeks now. A UTI not responding to treatment, ever increasing LDL cholesterol and other issues seem to have finally hit home. He is also eating more fruit and veg (he hardly ate them before). The final change is that he has stopped near continuous vaping and gone back to smoking <10 a day. I don't know if that's good or bad but it is more pleasant.

Whilst the abstinence from booze is good the taking up smoking again isn't because smoking with all the toxins that cigarettes contain are also damaging to the liver and giving it more work to do.

Well at least he's managed to not drink for 2 weeks but smoking cigarettes rather than vaping is more pleasant ? Really ? Like Katie has said smoking will be damaging his lungs and liver in much the same way as drinking does ... both are full of toxins. I think he still has some better life choices to make. Hope he does .

That’s interesting I never thought about the vaping contributing to liver problems

In lab studies (and also in human examples) vaping can actually lead to fatty liver disease.
