Hello. My Son (aged 16) has had raised Liver Function for over 18 moths, he had a scan and a shadow was showing but they said it wasn't of concern. But I am concerned as there is clearly a issue and I'm worried that leaving it could make things worse in the long run. With Covid it ha been difficult to speak with a GP, he recently turned 16 so this has now been passed to a different Dr as he was under the Paediatrician. This also concerns me as his previous Dr was well aware of the on goings, this new one basically just said its still raised we'll do bloods again in 6 months?

Hello, welcome to the forum although it is really aimed at people above 18.
Have you had an explanation as to what 'the shadow' is or why they think your son's enzymes are raised? I appreciate the difficulties in getting GP appointments but the GP has a duty of care and should make time to discuss the issues with you. If you feel you are not getting the appropriate advice/care perhaps you could consider speaking to the practice manager and/or asking for a second opinion.
It is possible that the Childrens Liver Foundation may be able to offer further suggestions
regards
Thank you I wasn't aware it was was 18. I will try your link, thank you for your help.
Why was your son having blood tests aged 14?Were there symptoms that his Dr thought might be liver related?
I think trust5 means this site is aimed more at adults and we are all ancient!
You will certainly get moral support and encouragement here but medical advice needs to be from an expert in younger people's liver health.
