Small red dots on arms and legs come and go. Does anyone know what they are and should I be concerned?

My hubby was diagnosed with cirrhosis in May 21. Now tea total with non withdrawal symptoms. He got into bad habits with alcohol to cope during lockdown and has paid the price for it. I've noticed at times he has small red spots, which are not itchy and do disappear..does anyone know what this might be? He is due to see his specialist nurse in 2 weeks. He is classed now as having compensated liver disease. We've found the specialist nurses excellent and helpful. They give lots of encouragement and advice and allow you to ask any questions that we might have.

Hello, It is great to hear you have a good relationship with the nurse specialists. They can provide invaluable support.

I would encourage you to show them the red spots - or take photos to show them if they come and go.

I had those dots too, before my transplant. They have to do with the platelets. My doctors didn’t seem overly concerned, just a side effect of cirrhosis.

Hi Hollypapa, I wondered if it might be something regarding the blood.. my hubby was initially diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis but thankfully due to changes in his lifestyle by withdrawing totally from alcohol, eating healthy meals and regular healthy snacks he is now considered as compensated. Hopefully the specialist nurse will set his mind at rest. Thanks for sharing with me.
