I'm one year post transplant and haven't touched any alcohol since the operation. I had non alcoholic fatty liver disease.I've now been informed that non alcoholic drinks contain ethanol which is also not good for you when taking adeport. Anyone any views about this ? Should I even leave non alcoholic drinks alone ?

Post transplant and alcohol
Hi.I would leave well alone anything that could in the long term be detrimental to the health of your new liver. You have been given a new lease of life from a donor who has lost their own. So in my opinion it deserves to be treated with the utmost love, care and respect you can possibly give it, as do the majority of donor liver recipients, who l am sure will share their feelings with you too.
Hello, I was tempted to say that because your transplant wasn't alcohol-related, then the odd non-alcohol drink shouldn't be an issue. But, no doubt seeing some of the posts on here you'll see just how dangerous and toxic alcohol can be. Every bottle should carry a government health warning on the label.
The bottom line is, if you don't need it, or you don't want it, don't drink it.
One of the reasons I will never drink again is because of the total respect I have to my donor. I made a promise to myself back in that hospital that I would never do anything to hurt or harm this second gift of life.
Good Luck
Richard.
Pretty much all non alcoholic drinks contain a little bit of alchohol. Some just very tiny amounts. I dont know what interaction there may be with adeport so really this is something to ask your medical team next time you speak to them. Advice can vary to person to person. It may not be an issue but they'll be happy to answer the question and will also be glad you asked it.
