Hey, sorry I’m a bit of a hypochondriac & interested in medicine and was reading about nails being a sign of underlying illness, I’ve always noticed my partners nails being oddly bright white & never thought much of it until I read this could be a sign of serious liver/kidney disease??? he’s young & otherwise seems healthy but the nails are so noticeably white i couldn’t see what else it could be but Terry’s nails?
Just been worrying about it and was hoping I’d just get a doctors opinion to know what to do
He has really obviously pale smooth-white nails, the white is more pronounced in real life than the pic - recently these have changed to half white & ‘normal’ nail colour on the upper half
The Lunalae are barely visible & he sometimes gets numbing of the hands / less sensation, like if he bites his hand it’s barely feel-able compared to the same bite in his lower arm
I’m just wondering if there’s anything to worry about? Thank you so much for reading if you do x

Hello,
I am afraid we are not going to be to be able to answer your query. No one on here is qualified to make a diagnosis/interpret results or photos and so your concerns should be discussed with your partners GP.
May I gently remind you as well that community guidelines do ask that pictures and results are not posted.
“Terry’s nails are a type of apparent leukonychia, characterized by ground glass opacification of almost the entire nail, with a narrow band of normal, pink nail bed at the distal border, and often with obliteration of the lunula”. As stated, nobody here is qualified to make a diagnosis, but on another feed about this someone pointed out that nails are no longer used to diagnose much anymore. You should speak to your GP about it at your next appointment if you find it concerning, and since you made this post surely you do
