I have not formally been diagnosed with PBC but am responding well to urso.
I had a liver biopsy which went wrong and resulted in a perforrated gallbladder and I really dont want another one.
Does a fibroscan do the same job as a biopsy?

Fibroscan will only stage your liver disease it can't tell what is going on at a cellular level within the liver - only biopsy does that and as your PBC hasn't yet been confirmed they obviously need to look at a cellular level to see exactly which cells are involved in your condition - in PBC it's the cells lining the bile ducts that are attacked - in AIH it's the hepatocytes which are attacked.
That sounds awful and I'm sorry you had to go through that. I was diagnosed with PBC without needing a biopsy as I had raised ALP and positive AMA and that was enough to diagnose. They only advise a biopsy if necessary, so if they say you need one, you probably do. That was an extremely rare complication and is very unlikely to happen again if you do need one.
